This Evening: It’s A Creamergency!
>>> Good god, if tonight had somehow happened in 1996 and not 2006, we would have never stopped creaming our jeans. It would have been a creamergency! But get this: In 2006, it at least feels like a creamergency, as Ian Svenonius and Calvin Johnson (pictured, meow!) overtake Driz Horse at the Khyber. If we need to explain to you who these people are, it’s gonna get ugly, but know this: Calvin Johnson started K Records at a time when its very existence gave a few hundred kids reasons to live, and those hundreds turned into thousands, and boom! The Indie Nation was born. Meanwhile, Svenonious is the most celebrated tool in all of Amerindie history, and believe us, the competition was stiff. (Note: He’s also reading at Big Jar Books at 8pm, from a tome we shall playfully name How Come Indie Rockers Never Excel At Karate? Because They Can Never Get Past The White Belt.) But both of these guys are wildcats on the dancefloor, and this is just the kind of excitement we could use right about now. Have we mentioned that we’ve been down the shore all week, wading in a sea of spoiled children and their wicked bougie leatherfaced Main Line parents and how we are DYING TO GO OUT AND GET HAMMERED? AND HOW WE ARE ABBREVIATING OUR VACATION JUST FOR THIS? Check, please! It’s a creamergency!
