Readers Write: The Brothers And Sisters Are Running (In) This City

street 9

So since I’ve become this cheesy morning-runner type, I haven’t really seen much of a payoff except for shin pain, all-day exhaustion, etc. Until yesterday morning. As I approached Lloyd Hall at the foot of Kelly Drive (most famous for its rollerblade-disco exhibitions), I saw none other than the pride of Philadelphia, the Hon. John F. Street. Our brother was wearing black shorts, a white collared shirt, white generic kicks with white socks up to his knees and the kicker: a white bucket hat, presumably to keep a “low” profile. But there was no fooling this morning runner, I mean, does this guy really think he can hide his skunk-like afro? Absolutely no. (Plus, he had his signature reading glasses around his neck, an obvious tipoff). But alas, all I had was keys and my memory to capture this moment. MY KINGDOM FOR A CAMERA PHONE!

Anyway, as I and anyone else on Kelly Drive who gets “the urge” during an early morning run knows, the bathrooms at the Lloyd Hall are unmercifully locked. But not for our Mayor of the Subpoenaed Blackberry. He had his lackeys tried every key to the men’s room. When those failed, they tried the ladies. And so he went. Well, when ya gotta go, ya gotta go.

Hey, what can we say? It’s good to be king.
