Mo’ Rumblings: Breaking Up Is Hard To Do
>>> Are we about to witness the birth of Rockpile II? Only a day after news broke that the indie rock mag was no more, we hear from publisher Allan Martin Kemler: “I am currently working to set up a new publishing project that will cover independent art and culture in much the same way as Rockpile has. I will be working with many of the same writers, designers and photographers who made Rockpile happen over the past two years, and the possibility of the three of us collaborating, albeit in different roles, has already been raised. Taking what I have learned from my experiences publishing Rockpile, this new project will be a co-op-style publishing collective with an emphasis on teaching and learning the craft of publishing from start to finish.” We’re just waiting for the part when he says that this new project will be called… wait for it… Rockpile!
>>> Contrary to rumours we had heard a few months back, spry pop-punks Hail Social have not broken up. Says Dayve Hawk: “We just finished mixing/mastering the new Hail Social record ‚Äî everyone is REALLY excited about this one!” Well, good on ya, lads. Advance copies going out to journos soon.
>>> The Anderson Council, the Jersey mod-beat band signed to Jim Slade‘s Groove Disques label, just nabbed this week’s “Coolest Song In The World” honors on Little Steven’s Underground Garage.
