This Week On The Philebrity Player: Impeach My Bush By PEACHES!
The whole world is going to hell in a handbasket. As the summer of ‘06 scorches on, religious freaks are immolating one another, the poor and ignorant are killing themselves, and the rich embrace xenophobia. Worst of all, it’s hard to have sympathy for anyone. Anyone, of course, but the righteous urban hedonist, for whom a world out of control can be dismissed thusly: I’d rather fuck who I want than kill who I am told to. Amen to that, sister. And it’s with that battle cry that Impeach My Bush, the new record by Peaches, starts off. Sure it’s funny. Sure it’s dismissive of thousands of years of theological and ideological struggle ‚Äî as well as the last few of W’s mungling and bungling. So fucking what. It’s hot as hell, we are no longer empowered to affect change and Rome is fucking burning anyway. This is the mantra of Peaches, and it’s so strong, it’s hard not to get wrapped up in it. Somehow, Impeach My Bush squeezes an entire nasty strip bar onto one record, and also packs in some pretty empowering sexual politics even when, seriously, that is the last thing on your mind. If all of that is too heady for you, there’s the funny titles: “Tent In Your Pants,” “Two Guys For Every Girl,” “Rock The Shocker,” and, of course, “Slippery Dick.” We here at Philebrity are proud to present Impeach My Bush to you this week; it is by far the filthiest thing we’ve ever had on the site, and to dance around the office to it is to experience the purest subversive glee we’ve had all summer.
