Spank Rock Fever Provokes All-Time Weird Dinner Party Scene

Sire Records founder Seymour Stein and his old friend Jerry Blavat kept the kitchen at Gioia Mia (2025 Sansom) open late Friday night. Stein, who signed Madonna, the Ramones, Dead Boys, the Smiths and many others, had checked out Spank Rock, a hip-hop group that had played the Trocadero. Spank Rock showed up for dinner with Stein with a crew including Rose Luardo and Thom Lessner of Sweatheart, whose video “Finger Bangin’ ” can be seen at sweatheartsweat.com, and Ron Crawford and Matt Derago of sneaker boutique Afficial (608 S. 5th).
