Attorney General Alberto Gonzales has almost singlehandedly brought about the end of America as we know it — and judging by his Congressional testimony about it, he feels fine. By greenlighting torture, and redlighting due process, habeas corpus, the Geneva Convention and the 4th Amendment, Gonzales, as much as anyone at BushCo, pushed us through the looking glass after 9/11 and into the bizarro universe of de facto martial law.
