This Week On The Philebrity Player: UK ONLY EP from FAVOURITE SONS!
Much like Espers last week, this week’s featured artist on The Philebrity Player is one that’s near and dear to our hearts. Favourite Sons are an NYC-by-way-of-Philly-and-UK combo whose members have done time in Rollerskate Skinny and our own Aspera ‚Äî nothing to sneeze at there. (Trainspotters will also recognize singer Ken Griffin from the superb Kid Silver recordings, back in the late ’90s.) Their sound? We love them because they remind us so much of Echo & The Bunnymen, but you’ll also hear all kinds of amazing stuff in there, from Nick Cave to the Monochrome Set to The Fall/Pavement. It’s classic sturm und drang, really, with all of it delivered in Griffin’s hollow, gorgeous croon. The EP you’re listening to now, Treason, has previously only been available in the UK, and through the good graces of Apollo Audio, we’re happy to offer it for sale (cheap!) as an mp3 bundle. This EP precedes their forthcoming debut album for Vice Recordings in September.
