This Week On The Philebrity Player: SPANK ROCK!

spankGirl you know it’s true: Spank Rock is the Baltimore booty-Urkel you wanna do. Here at Philebrity, we’ve been keeping tabs on Spank ever since he rocked Hollerween ‘04. And it gives us great pleasure to present to you his debut album, Yo Yo Yo Yo Yo in full this week on The Philebrity Player. Just out on Ninja Tune/Big Dada (the same label what brought you the Diplo classic Florida), Yox5 is seriously the official monster party jam of this brand new spring. It’s got it all: Songs about “ass-shaking competitions,” pulsating stripper electro beats, hilarious rhymes and, not least, Amanda Blank. (Check track 6 for maximum Philly representation.) As for Spank hisself, he’s got a style that’s cleaner, savvier and sharper than any new rapper we can think of. We’re predicting big things. So listen now, and listen good. Work advisory: In parts, it’s also reallllllly fucking dirty. As in, “filthy.” On the other hand, Spank is totally worth losing your job for. Speaking of, last we heard Spank Rock Superfans can still hitch a ride on Thursday Night’s SpankBus to Baltimore for the Yo record release at the Ottobar. So there you have it: Spank Rock. If he was any dirtier, he’d be from Philly.
