The Blah, Blah, Blah On Blogs

dpBloviating about the media’s pipes being backed up with PJ loads of bloggorhea, the old, white men of the Inky/Blinq/Attytood three-way have gotten themselves in a clusterfuck more pinchy than a live bucket of Bonks‘ best. All of this hullaballoo would be unnecessary if they would just frame the question properly. Instead of: Are blogs hurting newspapers and the cause of journalism? The question really is: how are blogs helping newspapers and the cause of journalism? Are blogs not, among other things, like lifeboats bringing young readers to gawk and point at the sinking ship of print — which, if memory serves, is sinking in large part because it could not get those young readers to come visit in the first place? Blogs aren’t giant killers, so relax my Jolly Green Friends– we’re just part of the weird flora and fauna that sprung up when the mighty oak fell. We here at Philebrity have been gnawing on the skulls of local media since nigh on a year and a half ago. We would humbly submit that every time we link to the Inky they get billions and billions — yes it’s true, we do big traffic — of young readers that they would not have had a prayer of attracting otherwise. It’s called tough love, baby. If the truth hurts, get a helmet.
Blinq: Let’s Get Ready To Ruuuuuuuummmble!
Inky: Blawg, Humbug!
Attytood: Um, Remember How The Dinosaurs Ignored That Meteor Shower…?
