Dr. Philebrity: Why Do You Hate Gay People?

dp

Dear Dr. Philebrity:
What’s up with the reckless use of the word “gay” all over your site?

Have you drank the homo haterade or is it just cruel, cruel irony?

A Gawker In The Gayborhood

The good doctor sets this gazer straight after the jump…

Dear Mr. Telling Me Shit I Already Know,
Philebrity, regular readers should surmise, is both gay-positive (very much so, in fact, with a sizable, documented gay audience) and gay-pejorative, since it’s been our experience that the gay community themselves are most often both. This is not because we harbor any ill will whatsoever toward homosexuals (although we do, frankly, harbor plenty of ill will toward straight people), but more of a reflection of the often confusing metatimes we’re living in. Plus, it’s also simply an unfortunate quirk of language that the word “gay” has, two, three, four meanings. If we’ve gotten over it, it’s probably pretty fair to say that you can, too.

Love,

Dr. Philebrity.
