Tired Of Getting The Shaft, Indie Miners Storm RUBA Club, Graze Potluck
The number of coal miners partying within out city limits increased from exactly 0 to 25 Saturday night when the Pennsyltucky Party Bus pulled up to International House for a screening of Mark Brodzik’s Hard Coal, which sold out both screenings at the Philly Filmfest this weekend. The miners cleaned up pretty good — many sporting their best down vest and flannel combo — and were received as working class heroes with a standing ovation from the I-House audience. Afterwards, everyone headed over to RUBA for a potluck dinner, kegs of beer and coal miner’s daughter songs. Perhaps excited to finally be serving men who also wear white socks with dress shoes, the RUBA bartenders caused a bit of a logjam in the beer line as they ignored thirsty customers and instead paused to take it all in, as they are wont to do, and said with a nod: Is a good night for RUBA Club, no?
