maryAs Silk City gets ready to shut its doors, the Inky starts passing out the hankies. Today’s subject? Longtime Silk waitress Mary Kratofilow, who’s been working there since before you were born, hoss.

“I cry almost every day,” she says. “Oh God. Yeah. The guy that I’m dating, he’s like, ‘Mary, you’ve got to get over it,’ because he just doesn’t understand how I feel. It’s hard for a lot of people to understand, especially a man, how you feel. I’m scared to death. I’ve been here so long. I don’t really know anything else.”
[...]This is what’s hard to take about the Silk closing. How can you feel like a place is your home when it can just be sold and shut down around you?
