For weeks, Democrats have accused Santorum of being part of a larger GOP effort to pressure lobbying firms into hiring Republicans and supporting the party’s agenda. They held up his biweekly meetings with lobbyists as an example of the Pennsylvania senator creating the kind of cozy environment between lobbyists and lawmakers that led to the corruption scandal involving lobbyist Jack Abramoff.
