Weekend Wrapup: Philebrity Holiday Parties Like Whoa

cap yrs
You know it’s a good party when nothing survives: memory, evidence, food, love, you name it. Here is what we know: On Friday, we took on the bold task of throwing not one but two Christmas parties. The first was the Philebrity/Park The Van Records Christmas Office Party, which was grand little soiree held from 6-10pm for our close friends, advertisers and media folks, just as a way of saying, hey, thank you for not sueing us this year. (And wouldn’t you just know it: Dan DeLuca and Daniel Rubin were like the first dudes through the door; sadly, though, Albert Yee forgot to read the invite before he left just as the party was ending.) Anyhoo, the party was a grand old time: Park The Van-ers Carter Tanton and The National Eye played, we had two kegs of Yards, some nosh from Deuce, and Tower lent us a really sweet space just for the occasion. Here is the bad news: Well, actually it’s not so much bad news as it is, like, the news: The Yards was a-flowin’ so much that by the time everyone got to A Very Philebrity Christmas at Silk City, well, um, there’s no nice way to say this: Nobody knew where they were, but we’ve been working on restoring our memories since Saturday morning, and we have come to the conclusion that WE ALL HAD A REALLY GOOD TIME. Ron Morelli and Julie G., we are fairly sure, had loads of folks dancing, and The Capitol Years seriously ripped a hole in the sky, and at one point, we sort of remember Jonathan Valania wound up onstage singing the Guided By Voices classic “Tractor Rape Chain” with the groop. Was it all a dream? Sadly, photographic evidence of all of this is on short supply: The Philebrity office camera literally digitally pooped on all the photos and what remains, thankfully, is Angelo Yap’s photos from Silk. In any case, we just wanted to say THANK YOU, so many times over for a great year, and thanks to Friday night’s sponsors for helping us make Christmas ‘05 so very much the jumpoff. Stay tuned for some truly exciting NYE news!
