Breaking: Where The F Is Helga?
Michael Klein reports that the collection of Andrew Wyeth up until recently held by The Brandywine River Museum has gone missin’. Not like anybody stole it, they just bought and are keeping it way, way on the downlow. Most notably gone from the area now are the Helga paintings, notable for their oddly prescient display of what would come to be known as “The Espers Look.” (Check it out. This chick is at Johnny Brenda’s all the time, and she is like never having fun. I think she has her own knitting label or something.)
But Wednesday, the collection was sold again, to a buyer from the United States who has taken custody of the works. Ann Richards Nitze of Washington, who arranged the sale, declined to name the buyer or the price.
The upshot: The Helga collection no longer is at the Brandywine River Museum, its spokesman Halsey Spruance confirmed. He doesn’t know where they are.
But! But! How will future generations know how to, um, dress like Helga? Developing.
