Talk The Talk: Chad Brown, The Lonesome Cowboy

chadAnd speaking of all things 700, you might be wondering: What in the Sam Hill ever happened to Chad Brown, The Lonesome Cowboy? Why, time was, this gun-slingin’ country and western DJ was out nearly every week, doin’ lasso tricks, showing Westerns and generally living in the service of promoting the cowboy way. Well, Chad skidaddled a few years back, but we were pleased to find out he’s back in town tonight for “The Return Of The Lonesome Cowboy,” a little hoedown he’s staging at Silk City. How did we find out? Why, via this mp3 message of course!
Greetings From Chad Brown, The Lonesome Cowboy [mp3]
What’s more, we caught up with Chad and, erm, caught up with Chad. Interview after the jump.

Hello?
Hey Philebrity, this is the Lonesome Cowboy
OH MY GOD! No way! How are you, sir? Tell me: Where have you been all my life?
Running around the Great American Desert. Left Philadelphia 5 years ago and it seems only yesterday.
Amazing. What brings you back?
A cold weather reunion with old friends and the hankerin’ to share some country sides I’ve been collecting around the desert towns of the west.
Mighty white of ya! So tell me: You still doin’ all the old cowboy arts?
Don’t let Charley Pride hear you sayin’ that! Since leaving this fair city I was holed up in Utah for a spell making snow in the mountains, dodging Mormons, etc. Then I drifted down to Los Angeles and, along the way, got into tracking down some of the few living country stars of old. Red Simpson, Billy Mize, Oregon singing loggers. To get their stories and raise a beer with them was something else. Old dogs will always be near the porch and soon will crawl under it and be with us no longer.
Wow. Dude, I like your style.
Ranch style. Figure on loading up the suitcase with some sides. Is Philly ready for a snowy evening of this stuff drifting out into the night through the swinging doors of Silk City?
I can’t imagine we wouldn’t be, my friend. You were missed.
Likewise! Drop in this evening for a brew, and I hope you stay between the ditches!

The Return of the Lonesome Cowboy is tonight, Dec. 15, at Silk City, 10pm, $5. There will also be a live recording radio broadcast and Western Trinkets on giveaway. From cowpoke country blues all the way to heartbreak crooner ballads and back again, this evening of dusty favorites spans the best decades of forgotten country classics.
