DR. SLOB WINS WIP’S FIRST EVER WING 5
Wing sauce dribbled off of the engorged faces of the hopeful students vying for Wing Bowl glory. Hundreds packed University City’s New Deck Tavern for the first ever WIP “Wing 5″ on Thursday December 8. When the bones had been cleared, there was one man standing, Tim Cusich, aka Dr. Slob. Dr. Slob was a whirlwind of wing consumption, conquering 61 wings as his contingent of family and friends cheered him on throughout the ten-minute ordeal. The good doctor is a West Chester University student. He will represent his school in front of 18,000 screaming fans at WIP’s Wing Bowl on February 3, 2006 at Wachovia Center. Former Eagle Hugh Douglas couldn’t resist last night’s spectacle. He showed up just in time to watch Dr. Slob eat his way to victory.

The rest after the jump. Gross.

The “Wing 5″, like the WIP Wing Bowl, is a creation of Angelo Cataldi, Al Morganti and Rhea Hughes, the WIP Morning Team (weekdays 5:30a-10a on 610 WIP AM).? A “Wing 5″ is for college students only. Each will be held at a Philadelphia area college hangout and will consist of a 10-minute wing eating competition. The college student that eats the most wings in 10 minutes will win one of the 25 contestant slots at Wing Bowl 14. The “Wing 5″ competition fits in with the theme of this year’s Wing Bowl, “The Virgin Wing Bowl.” All previous competitors have been barred from participating in this year’s contest.
All “Wing 5″ competitions will be hosted by legendary five-time Wing Bowl champion, Bill “El Wingador” Simmons and WIP’s Marc Farzetta, a recent Temple graduate.? Each competition will feature up to 30 competitors. The date, time and location of each “Wing 5″ will be announced on 610 WIP during the Angelo Cataldi and The Morning Team and on the station’s website, 610wip.com.
All “Wing 5″ registrants must be students enrolled at a college or university in the tri-state area with valid student ID and a valid government issued identification card.
