Developing: House Of Blues Out Of The Troc?

All day long yesterday, little birdies were chirping about a strange revelation in the ever-evolving Philly promoter shuffle. The gist of it goes that as of December 31st, House of Blues ó who’ve had a hand in the historic Trocadero ever since booker Jon Hampton defected to Electric Factory Concerts ó is out. Not much is known what would happen in the new year, but the thought of the Troc going dark for any length of time is kind of a drag. Meanwhile, rumblings keep emitting that House of Blues is planning to open a House of Blues proper (complete with some kind of VIP baker’s-vault style club) close by City Hall in the coming year; in that light, the pullout makes sense, but still. Can’t somebody move into the Troc and stay there?

Updated: We stand corrected. The House of Blues at 15th and Chestnut (in The Packard Building) is in fact a done deal, according to a May 15 Inky piece by Michael Klein. Meanwhile, present Troc management did not care to comment.
