Cute Boy Alert: Ramona Cordova!
Gentle readers, it’s been nearly a dog’s age since we broke out a new Cute Boy Alert, so you know this one must be a pretty strong one to come in over the transom and blow the cobwebs straight off the cute-omter like this. So behold: Ramona Cordova. Ramona lives in deepest SoLibs, and comes to us by way of Worst Music You Ever Heard, who’ve just dropped a podcast of Ramona singing, answering questions and getting down to what’s really real. You might recognize Ramona if you saw him open for Sue Jorge at the Church a month or two ago. He’s a singer/songwriter, but don’t freak out on us just yet: He’s good, see? Rocking a high and lonesome falsetto and singing tunes that wind and whip up like Henry Darger paintings, he’s got some of that Devendra Banhart manchild thing going, but not really as heavy on the cocaine eyes/NAMBLA vibe. And Christ almighty is he ever CUTE. Oh my God. And yes, he’s playing a gig this week at Cereality. I mean, seriously. So cute.
