Teenage Zine Spotlight: RÈve · Deux
True confession time: When the Philebrity robots walk down the street, ‘lo it is true that we hold our heads high. But some things never change, and got-damn if we are not still afraid of teenagers. Why are their t-shirts so big? Don’t they know that you can buy cell phones that don’t beep everytime you say something? And the new variation on the Eminem/Romulan haircut that adds in a fleck of Belgian monk circa 1600? Like wow. But enter RÈve · Deux, which takes us straight back to our own days of cutting and pasting and Xeroxing and weeeeeeee! Madge, Effie and Sylvia are three young ladies who’ve just gotten out of high school and love to pen micro-essays about Jeff Tweedy ó a sure clue that they have ‘XPN-listening parental units ó†and talk about all the hilariously clichÈd boyfriends they’re about to have and all the even more ridiculous schools they just didn’t get into. All in all, the heart warms. Take us back to a Sassy-er time, RÈve · Deux!
Luckily, for those of you unable to scour record stores for back copies, the ladies have put their complete works online. Get ready to lose a few hours.
