This Weekend: Ride The Snake

pantzFriday:
>>> We were scratching our heads about this one for a little while, too, but we went through the acrhives, and we got it straight: It’s improv comedy that we hate. Sketch comedy, on the other hand ó where you don’t have to take a roll and pretend like it’s a telephone ó is alright. Bearing that in mind, Secret Pants (pictured, in partm anyway) brings their sketch joints to the Khyber.
>>> Meanwhile, Elephant 6 moppets-still-holding-onto-the-dream Of Montreal play the First Unitarian Church. Count the kids in red pants.
Saturday:
>>> At The Troc, there’s the Paul Green Free Music Showcase with Sweatheart, 722, Flaming, Amandla and Stinking Lizaveta. Hopefully, there will be naked protesters at this one, too.
>>> As discussed below, Bill Ricchini/Buried Beds/Shai Capitol Years “rock” The Tin Angel.
>>> Pretend it’s 1999 all over again and do Sorted! with O.G. team Dave Pak and Mike Z. At Silk City.
>>> And, you know, not to go Khyber loco on you, but the Pearls And Brass/Birds Of Maya show is not to be missed, if you like your boogies cosmic and your stoners rocked.
Sunday:
>>> It’s almost time to go back to school again! You need some clothes made of paper! Why not rock the H&M/Bawdy Girls whatchamacallit. DJ Diabolic spins, students get discounts, someone wins $500 worth of H&M clothes. (Which is kind of like winning $500 worth of Taco Bell ó can one actually consume that much?) 6-8pm.
>>> Rainer Maria with newfound Philly it-boys Hail Social (their first show in Philly since the release of their Polyvinyl debut, wethinks) and Philly-expat-now-pat-again Denison Witmer at FU Church again.
