Alycia Lane and Larry Mendte will host Philadelphia Magazine’s “Best of Philly 2005,” Thursday, July 28, 7:30 p.m. on Channel 3. (The special will be rebroadcast Sunday, July 31, 11 a.m. on the station.) The half-hour program will feature the magazine’s most extensive “best of” list ever with more than 125 new categories including two new features — a list of “helping hand” “services”* that can make your life a breeze and the first ever “Best Philadelphian” award presented to the person who contributed the most to life in our region in the past year. CBS 3 will broadcast the presentation of this year’s Award given the night before at the magazine’s reception honoring this year’s “Best of” winners at World CafÈ Live.

* On the other hand, it is nice to see that they’re giving out awards this year for, um, best “washie-washie.”
