Have you found yourself wondering why 90’s footnote Trent Reznor wasn’t just content to fade into obscurity atop a pile of money and nubile, bipolar teen runaways? Have you found yourself wondering why the newly jowly Reznor thinks his “Lord of Pathos”schtick is in anyway relevant in the 2K5, despite the fact that his [...]

In the Inky’ s grand tradition of telling us what we already know, (Daniel Rubin, are your ears burning?), columnist Michael Klein takes it upon himself to gently remind us that Philebrity editor Joey Sweeney sometimes can’t tell the difference between “good attention” and “bad attention.”

The editors here at Philebrity aren’t above spending a night at a baseball game, watching flushed, pudgy white people sporting awkward facial hair and unnatural fabrics clap like epileptic otters, and swearing on Judas’s blood when the Phillies almost blow a six run lead. Frankly, it is some of the best people watching ever. Where [...]

In a career move only slightlly less embarrassing than playing stripper number 3 in Showgirls, former Y100 DJ, Bret Hamilton will reportedly invade NBC 10’s “10″ show in a sement called “Take This Job.” The premise being that Hamilton will “take over ” someone’s job. Then, the hijinks begin. Oh, the hijinks. Sounds like a [...]

We here at Philebrity are stumped. Some of us think this is a passage from some erotic Xena The Warrior Princess fan fiction. Others disagree, arguing that these are the liner notes from a forgotten P.O.D. album. Either way, there’s one thing we can agree on, this plea for the bad touch was written in [...]

>>>What’s on the plate for this evening? Eh, not much, but it is a Monday night, so what can you do? Well, for starters, the vixens over at Plainparade will be at Silk City hosting The Rarebirds featuring the smoking hot Carolynne McNeel. Also on the bill are Chicago’s The Changes.
>>>For those of you with [...]

Now, there’s Lofts 640, a former factory at Broad and Mt. Vernon, which has not one but two water features:
A babbling stream will run through a landscaped courtyard entrance; and tenants can relax in a glass-enclosed, heated salt-water pool atop a four-story annex at the rear.

In a meandering tone that makes the late Mr. Rogers look like a meth-addled wolverine by comparison, Inky scribe Daniel Rubin comes to a shocking conclusion. Apparently, instead of reading the newspaper, people are reading the newspaper online! Wait, wait wait, it gets better! Not only are people reading the newspaper online, they are [...]

A few days ago, Philebrity’s esteemed editor contacted me with a proposition. Since he was pretty bogged down with some other projects, he asked that I take over the reigns for a few weeks. Knowing him, I figured that his “other projects” included either modeling his spring wardrobe after Seth Cohen or holing up [...]

(Ed: Benny apologizes for getting off the Chinatown Bus, but he hasn’t been on it lately. Without experiences, there’d be a lot of conjecture and it’s journalistic integrity that we value most at Philebrity)
Many people ask Benny what brought him to Philly from the golden shores of California where barefoot children dance [...]

Joey Sweeney reports: Hi everybody, this is Joey. Here at Philebrity, we’re very persnickety about maintaining the royal “we,” but the events of last night were so truly bizarre that they merit a brief break in format. So.
Regular readers of this site will know that for the last few weeks, we have been PUMPED about [...]

>>> Well, it doesn’t happen often, but we’re actually excited around here today. Tonight, we’re goin’ to see Echo & The Bunnymen at the TLA, and psyched doesn’t even capture how boner city we are right now. Think about it: The Cutter. Seven Seas. Do It Clean. Bedbugs & Ballyhoo. Rescue. Jesus, the list goes [...]

Pondering why Dr. Dog aren’t rich yet, PBJ finally learns the harsh truth that has pretty much been a commonplace since, oh, 1993?
“They’re not really seeing royalties. They’re getting great press, but they’re opening tours. They’re getting a lot of exposure, but much less money [than the top act],” said David Lewis, the band’s Chicago-based [...]

Jeez, you know, it seems like ages since we’ve checked in with/clowned/snapped a towel at the ass of PhillyMag scribe Sasha Issenberg. Well, we turn around, and look: Sasha ’s got a book deal! Currently working on a little something called “Sushi: Big Tuna, Globalization and the Journey From Sea to Plate,” he stopped by [...]

Say, did you hear about yesterday’s pants-shitting evacuation in Washington D.C.? Yeah, well: PA guys. Lancaster, actually.
Jim Sheaffer set out from Lancaster’s Smoketown Airport today with a new map and a student pilot in a two-seater Cessna, bound for a fun-filled weekend.
They took off at 10:58 a.m., flying south to an air show in Lumberton, [...]

IF SEN. Vince Fumo ever leaves office, he may find good money in spinning hip-hop and R&B.
Fumo was an impromptu guest DJ at Glam (52 S. 2nd) Saturday and played cuts from 50 Cent and Usher, and even did a little old-school scratching on the records.
