This Weekend: Man Party Tips For Rock And Roll Suicides

aka
Friday:
>>> Jump start the fun with the AKA Music Grand Opening Party featuring Man Man with DJs Julia Factorial and The Butler. Oh, but you read the flyer, so you know that already. What you don’t know is that if this party is as much fun as the last one held at the new store, you may not need to go out afterwards. 7pm, 27 N. Second St., free. Man Man on at 8pm sharp.
>>> Not to be outdone in the war for your weekend Fishtown dollars, The Future Tips (ex-Rhode Island/Matt Pond PA) share a bill with the whoa-so-close-to-being-signed -to-this-awesome-label-but-we’re not-allowed-to-tell you-yet Relay at the Manhattan Room. The ‘Tips have also been burning the midnight oil these days. Check this:
The Future Tips: “Flavors”
>>> Also of note: The opening reception for the Richard Pettibone show at ICA, and Rock ‘n’ Roll Suicide, the new glam-rock/dance thing by Kyle Intensified! and John Redden at Silk City.
Saturday:
>>> Break out the mulled wine and mild psychedelics, because the Espers are throwing a folksy singer-songwriter house party with: I Feel Tractor, Marissa Nadler, Samara Lubelski, Orion Rigel Dommisse (all from Brooklyn), Kelli Hicks (Rochester) and Jody Hamilton (of Rifle Nice). Hit them up on Myspace or via their website for more details, because there is no way we would ever put these hippies back on the grid by putting their address on the Internets. (But here’s a big surprise: It’s in Fishtown.)
Sunday:
>>> We got nothin’. 65 degrees and clearing. Make the most of it.
>>> Oh, wait, unless you’re gay, or just love the gays. Sunday is Gay Day ñ all the homos, from home and abroad will be trolling around Independence Mall drinking and buying rainbow paraphernalia and probably be wearing way too little for 65 degrees and partly cloudy.
