This Evening: Lit And Whimsy (Supersized), Crimson Moon Spectacular

>>> Ah, yes, it’s that time again! That’s right, you This American Life-lovin’ mofo, it’s Lit And Whimsy time! This month’s topic: Music, the food of love! Says Erik Bader:

“This will go down in history as the weirdest thing I have ever done. I’m going to read this kinda okay essay about these really horrific songs I’ve been secretly recording for the past decade, then play some of them through a sampler pedal I guess because that’s the most difficult way to do it, and then pick up a guitar (borrowed because I don’t own one) and play a few of the very old ones written back in the days when I was terminally sad, very well read, and totally weird. Also Doree Shafrir has gone on record saying she will sing backup vocals to a very morbid tune that is entitled “When You’re Dead You’re Fucking Dead.” I mean seriously, people. THINK ABOUT THAT.”

7pm, at Tritone. With a high likelihood of special Philebro-tronic guestage.
>>> There’s also the Crimson Moon Holiday Party at MarBar. Says Wild Kyle:

8:00-2:00. 40th & Walnut. $10. Performances by Ursula Rucker and Viktor Duplaix. DJ sets by Lil’ Dave and Statik of the Ill Vibe Collective and Hector & The Nappy Afro-Cuban Sound System. 21 an over w/ I.D. Celebrate the longest night of the year with KoKo Darling of the Crimson Moon Cafe and friends. I know its FREEZING outside, but the vibes will be warm and the music will be F**KING HOT!!! Keep in mind your 10 bucks will contribute to the legal fund of our good friend Janet Uzoamaka. She is having difficulties with the INS and has huge legal fees to pay. Any additional contribution would be greatly appreciated. I really hope to see a lot of you at the party. It should be just the thing to help release pent up holiday stress and chase away the winter blahs (Tuesday is the Solstice).
