Your Leisure Time, Expelled!

>>>Go see Audible, the new dark horse contenders for Philly indiesoft legendry. Helmed by ex-Matt Pond sideman Mike Kennedy, Audible’s sound falls squarely into the Rainer Maria/Pinback side of things, except softer, more pillowy, more… Vicodinish. Anyhow, as a little taster for their forthcoming full-length debut on Polyvinyl, check out the release party for their new split CD with some band from New York that we don’t know the first thing about. It’s Saturday at The Khyber. Here’s a song from the aforementioned split:
Audible - “Stay Warm”
>>>Ok, so, a bunch of friends of ours live next door to Metro Lounge down at Front and Fairmount. In the ’90s, it used to be a bar called Maggie’s, and then after that, it’s been several other doomed things. Anyhow, few things are as doomed, however, than this Metro Place it is a sarcophagus for Wutabi Brother-types, but it’s not even really cheesey enough to compete with all the other bars in the same 100-square-yard Hellaware Avenue area. So that makes it even funnier that something decent is happening there. Weirdly enough, the Fuzzy Box crew is showing up there with none other than Dave P. doing his whole rainbowunicorns/cocainesexjams/drinksparksgetrad thing. That’s tonight. Friday.
>>>No lie: Embattled ex-Howard Dean campaign manager Joe Trippi is gonna be at Finnegan’s Wake tonight. Poor fucker. And if you can brave the obese and illiterate Irish mooks that will surround him as well as a $100 plate charge ($35 if you’re a student) you can rap with him, do an Irish Car Bomb with the dude, and help Joe Hoeffel get re-elected. This is what is called taking one for the team, friends. It’s at 6pm. Hurry!
